Buddha wears a short skirt

A bit wicked—
while reading the books of Nabokov—
the cafe washing
Coltrane out the ears—

It occurs to me, to reach
for the apple dangling—
dipped like a star in sin—

Something so magnetic
to bend the path to Eden—
but if she’d just stop rubbing it
with those meditative hands—
